Home : English Home : Festival 411 : FIL Events : Louisiana International Music Exchange Application Louisiana International Music Exchange (LIME) Festival International de Louisiane is proud to announce the 2008 Louisiana International Music Exchange (LIME), scheduled for the afternoon of Friday, April 25, 2008, at Cité des Arts, in downtown Lafayette. An expo-style event, the Louisiana International Music Exchange's mission is to bring Acadiana musicians together with prominent music presenters and talent buyers from Louisiana, across the country and around the world. LIME showcases a broad spectrum of music genre’s such as Blues, Cajun, Zydeco, Louisiana Roots Rock, Folk, Swamp Pop, Jazz/Swing, Singer/Songwriter, Gospel, Children's music as well as a miscellaneous category. The idea initially arose as a response to Louisiana Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu's appeal to institutions across the state to look for new and innovative ways to boost Louisiana's cultural economy. LIME was the first to answer this call, using Festival International as the setting for interaction between the musicians of Acadiana and a bevy of presenters, agents and labels. The Louisiana International Music Exchange, not only forms a network between artists and presenters but increases economic wealth of Louisiana by creating jobs and futures. LIME capitalizes on Louisiana’s largest cultural export…music. At the exchange itself, musicians and/or their managers have the opportunity to meet and present promotional material directly to industry professionals. Music showcases featuring Acadiana musicians are a new part of the Louisiana International Music Exchange event. The Louisiana International Music Exchange is making an impact. In years past, a host of agents and music presenters attended the exchange, attracted by the Festival's offer of reduced hotel rates, free transportation and VIP access to the Festival and to all artists. “The Louisiana International Music Exchange is equal parts booking opportunity and learning experience. From the roots to the branches of Louisiana music – it is all there in one room,” says Garth Ross, Director of Performing Arts for the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (Washington, D.C.). Other agents/talent buyers (venues) who have attended LIME include: Lincoln Center Music Festival (Washington D.C.), World Music Institute (New York), Marabi Productions/Musiques-Metisses Festival (France), Citifolk Festival (Dayton, Ohio), Blues Passion Festival (France), Lake Eden Arts Festival (North Carolina), Red River Revel Music Festival (Louisiana), Festivals Acadiens de Caraquet (New Brunswick), Rhythm & Roots Festival (Rhode Island) and many more. LIME is directly responsible for bookings of Louisiana musicians at each of the aforementioned venues. LIME 2008 will be open to any and all Blues, Cajun, Zydeco, Louisiana Roots Rock, Folk, Swamp Pop, Jazz/Swing, Singer/Songwriter, Gospel, and Children’s music artists currently living in the Acadiana area. Artist selection for the event will be on the basis of a given artist's ability, but also on the professionalism of their promotional material. Bands interested in taking part in the Louisiana International Music Exchange must submit professional promo material with CD and/or DVD and a completed registration form to Festival International de Louisiane, P.O. Box 4008, Lafayette, Louisiana 70502, Attn: LIME.
